Description
The people we meet, an instrument that binds us together, and suddenly our outlooks seem self-evident. ‘Numen’, a Latin word referring to artistic inspiration and even the exercise of omnipotence over artists’ creative will, often used in literary and poetic expression, and intimately linked, like all the arts, to music.
Formed in 2018, this young ensemble brings together four saxophonists from different backgrounds who now live in Ille-et-Vilaine. Through this quartet, its members aim to share their passion for their instrument and for chamber music.
All graduates of the Pôle d’Enseignement Supérieur du Spectacle Vivant – Pays de Loire, they invite you to discover a rich palette of timbres, using varied dynamics and playing styles throughout the pieces in their repertoire. With infectious enthusiasm, a strong sense of camaraderie and a desire to surprise the audience, the quartet will introduce you to the saxophone in repertoires where it is not always expected by the discerning music lover.
Soprano Saxophone: Ricardo JASSO

PROGRAMME: Sacred Melodies
A spellbinding journey through the centuries and the spectrum of emotions, this concert programme invites you to explore the finest works of Baroque, Impressionist and Romantic music. From the spiritual intensity of Pergolesi’s *Stabat Mater* to Bach’s elegant variations, via Debussy’s delicate reveries and the majesty of Fauré, each piece resonates with timeless beauty.
The celestial harmonies of Bach’s ‘Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring’ and ‘Air on the G String’ intertwine with the nobility of the human voice in the ‘Pie Jesus’ from Fauré’s Requiem. The programme continues with Ravel’s emotional richness, from the *Trois Chansons* to the subtle melancholy of the *Minuet on Haydn’s Name*, and the lyrical power of Borodin’s *String Quartet No. 2*. Between each piece, a continuous harmony is woven, shifting from inner and spiritual expression to the pure splendour of musical emotion.
A concert that explores the sublime, where every note tells a story, a prayer, a reverie… A true ode to the beauty and depth of classical music.
Concert organised in partnership with the Parish of St Colomban in the Quimperlé region and the municipality of Clohars-Carnoët
