Description
In a style they have dubbed ‘Gwerz à l’encre de seiche’, the members of this quartet perform gems from the rich folk repertoire of Bigoudénie – the region of Hélias, lashed by the sea spray and open to the world.
It is music meant to be listened to rather than danced to, with bilingual lyrics in Breton and French, and a strong element of improvisation, whether jazz or modal. The Tango is often not far away.
Deeper tracks sometimes open up wider spaces, whilst others recall the struggles of the sardine fishermen and the intense rhythm of the canners.
Ifig FLATRES: vocals
