Description
25 years of the Rendez-vous de la Belle Plaisance
In June 2001, the Yacht Club de l'Odet organised the very first Rendez-vous de la Belle Plaisance, a gathering of classic yachts with regattas between the Glénan islands and the Odet.
For three days, boats large and small from the Atlantic, Channel and other coasts sail around the bay of Bénodet, discovering or rediscovering the charms of the Odet, the Glénan and the Breton Riviera.
Over the years, this meeting has become one of the most recognised classic sailing events in France. It is now part of the CCMA (Challenge Classique Manche Atlantique) calendar, under the aegis of the Yacht Club Classique and the Jauge Classique Handicap (JCH). Around 40 cruisers meeting the criteria of the Belle Plaisance (age, materials, equipment, etc.) take part every year.
Also on the programme are Metric yachts (8m JI, 6m JI, 5.5m JI), entered in the Metric Challenge, of which the Yacht Club de l'Odet is a partner.
Alongside them, other classic series and sports keelboats such as the Requin (which raced their National here in 2019), the Aile from Île-de-France, and the Dinghy 12 and Mini J come back every year with enthusiasm, attracted by the beauty of the water and the warm welcome.
