Drawing inspiration from traditional West African dances, Germaine Acogny has established herself, over the course of her fifty-year career, as one of the leading figures in contemporary dance and also as one of the continent’s most important artists. In Dakar, where she founded her École des Sables, she continues to work tirelessly every day, at over 80 years of age, to train a new generation of dancers from across Africa who are set
to carry on her legacy.
