Thursdays: In the footsteps of Pierre Loti - Chapelle de Bonne Nouvelle (Melgven) with Monique Talec.
Born in Rochefort in 1850, Pierre Loti, whose real name was Julien Viaud, was a naval officer, great traveller and writer.
traveller and writer. He published a long series of novels from 1879, including Mon frère Yves (1883) and Pêcheur d'Islande
(1886), set at sea and in Brittany, followed by travelogues. He was admitted to the Académie Française in 1892 and
international renown. He died in Hendaye on 10 June 1923.
Mon frère Yves ends in front of the chapel of Saint Eloi, in the middle of the woods at the time.
A small chapel famous for its horse pardon. After a
visit to the chapel and a few readings, we'll set off along the country lanes to Coat Aven, from where we'll return to the chapel.
