Description

Free guided tours of Rosporden and Melgven from 7 July to 14 August. Tuesdays: Chapels and Manor Houses - With Florence Delneufcourt Walking shoes recommended. Known locally as the "fishmonger's path", the Roman road we are proposing you discover linked Vorgium-Carhaix, capital of the Osisme territory, to the shore of the future Concarneau. Studied since the middle of the 19th century by the "antiquarians" of the Société archéologique du Finistère, then by specialists in Antiquity in the 20th century, it was the subject of an in-depth investigation by Henri Guillou in 1994, which demonstrated that it was an ancient route. We have confirmed his findings with the help of the most recent archaeological discoveries made along its route, in particular its crossing of ancient occupation sites, revealed exclusively by the remains of tiles (tegulae) and bricks. On this walk, we can show you a section of the route that is remarkable for the way it was built on an earth embankment. This made it a key supply route for Vorgium-Carhaix. Some Roman roads in southern Cornouaille Freshness and a change of scenery guaranteed Length of discovery: around 1h30mn Walking shoes recommended Drinks on arrival
