Immerse yourself in the tradition of cabinet-making, and reveal the graphic potential of a mythical assembly: the dovetail.
In her bright, well-equipped workshop, Élodie will guide you through the making of an original cutting board, created by the precise interlocking of two types of solid wood.
The workshop
- Choosing the wood and drawing the lines: select the species and shape of your board, then draw the dovetail as you wish.
- Cutting the pieces: cut the dovetail out of the chosen wood as accurately as possible, and transfer its template to create its imprint on the main board.
- Cutting and fitting the housing: carefully hollow out the negative in the board using chisels and a router, until it fits perfectly.
- Assembling and gluing: glue the two pieces together to create a homogeneous block, with the dovetail acting as a locking key.
- Finishing: sand the surfaces, round the edges with a router and apply a natural protective oil to enhance the wood.
At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a solid, elegant and timeless chopping board, ready to take pride of place in your kitchen!
