Description
A masterpiece of the local heritage, nestled in a rural wooded landscape, the Chapel of Notre-Dame de Tréminou dates from the 13th century. It was restored in the 14th and again in the 16th century. The central window dates from this period (Flamboyant style).
The roof was rebuilt in 1964. The outdoor pulpit is topped by a very old cross. Inside are a few statues from the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1675, Tréminou was a key centre of the Bonnets Rouges revolt.
The fountain is situated in Lestréminou, 500 metres to the south. To the west, 150 metres from the chapel, on a slope, an Iron Age stele bears witness to the ancient Celtic cult.
The association ‘Les Amis de la chapelle de Tréminou’ runs the chapel’s visitor service.
