Description

On 19 and 20 September, we have chosen the theme “In the Time of the Proud Horse”. In fact, the Manoir de Kerhoas served as the setting for several scenes in the film. We have established a partnership with Pouldreuzic Town Council and the Per Jakez Hélias House-Museum, which is part of the Federation of Writers’ Houses and Literary Heritage. The programme for these days includes: - In the manor’s dining room: period Bigouden costumes, lace-makers and an exhibition of ‘pardon’ brooches. - In the drawing room and hallway: an exhibition of paintings on the theme of ‘In the Days of the Proud Horse’. - In the stables: photos from the film shoot and old tools - In the cider house: an exhibition and games provided by Pouldreuzic Town Hall - In the courtyard: Hervé Guirriec, writer, and Pierre Quentin, discussing the comic book about the Cheval d’Orgueil - Stalls for local associations: Plonivel, Diwan Cap Caval… And of course, refreshments: crêpes, kouigns and drinks for the public. During the day, the oven will be lit to bake bread. There will be dancing to the sounds of the bagpipes and the accordion, as well as readings from the book. A few words about the book *Le Cheval d’Orgueil*, published 50 years ago. It depicts the lives of peasants in the Bigouden region at the start of the 20th century. There was extreme poverty.
