In Camille Claudel’s time, did female composers have an easier life than female sculptors? Nothing could be less certain, but their position within specialist education was certainly different, as was the recognition they received from musical institutions. Pauline Viardot, Augusta Holmès, Cécile Chaminade, Lili Boulanger, Germaine Tailleferre, Elsa Barraine…: so many lives and musical works to discover.
A lecture by Lucie Kayas, PhD in musicology and honorary professor of musical culture at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music and Dance, organised by the association Les Préludes de Pont-Aven.
