Sharing the pleasure of reading, exchanging ideas, meeting people and promoting access to reading have been the driving force behind the Chien Jaune team for over 30 years now. This summer, the association is organising its festival of crime, noir and social literature around the theme of Polar & History. There's plenty of free entertainment for all ages. Nearly thirty authors and cartoonists are expected to take part under the big top set up on the Quai Carnot. THE FESTIVAL BY BIKE! New for 2026, Le Chien Jaune is setting up a bicycle garage to encourage festival-goers to visit the festival without a motor. On the programme: MYSTERY & BALL OF HAIR Thriller discovery trail. Discover or rediscover Concarneau's heritage on three discovery trails designed by Le Chien Jaune with children, accompanied by the town's Youth Education and Heritage departments. From 17 to 19 July - 10am > 4pm Espace Ateliers du festival From 8 years upwards SEED OF A DETECTIVE Game: Alone, with friends or as a family, children try to answer riddles to find out if they are to find out if they are a seed of a detective. From 17 to 19 July -10am > 5.30pm From 7 years upwards POLAR WHEEL Game: Every morning, test your knowledge of the detective genre in all its forms by starting the Wheel of Thriller. From 17 to 19 July at 10.15 am Festival entrance GHOST PRANKS Artistic and creative workshop. Colour, cut out and assemble the various elements of a little investigation game. From 17 to 19 July at 11am Espace Ateliers du festival From 5 years Registration required from Friday 18 July at 10am LUX IN TENEBRIS Participatory investigation Here you are, propelled into a medieval thriller in which you are the hero. Armed with a tablet and headphones, you'll criss-cross the village in search of clues to help catch the murderer. From 17 to 19 July at 11am Espace Ateliers du festival From 13 years upwards Registration required from 10am on 17 July FROM HISTORY TO DETECTIVE FICTION An encounter. A panel discussion featuring three authors who put historical periods and characters into words in their works of fiction, particularly detective fiction. Friday 17 July at 3.30pm At La Chap'L, Ville-Close From 13 years Registration required from 17 July at 10am 2026 AWARDS CEREMONY Presentation of the Chien Jaune adult and teen 2026 awards, followed by speeches by elected representatives and the association's president. Friday 17 July at 6pm Festival bookshop ADULT THRILLER PRIZE Meet the author. To mark the closing of the first CCA - Chien Jaune Adult Thriller Prize, a panel discussion with the authors selected for 2026: Laurence Biberfeld (Malencontre, Faction), Marion Brunet (Des rires de hyènes, Faction) and Hervé Mestron (BricoTop, In8). Saturday 18 July at 10.30am At La Chap'L, Ville-Close MYSTERY AND POSTCARDS Writing workshop Put into words and into mystery the emblematic places of our twin towns: Concarneau- Bielefeld-Senne. 18 July at 2pm and 3pm Espace Ateliers du festival Registration required from Friday 18 July at 10am CRIME, CRIMINALS AND SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATION A meeting. Three authors discuss the development of forensic investigation techniques and their impact on the way cases are handled. Saturday 18 July at 2.30pm Espace Culturel E.Leclerc MUSICAL NOCTURNE With NickelDesPieds Choose your next readings to music! The bookshop and bar will remain open during the NickelDesPieds concert. Saturday 18 July at 9pm Espace Librairie du festival All ages MAJOR POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC EVENTS OF THE 20TH CENTURY Rencontre A panel of three cartoonists discussing the treatment in comics and graphic novels of the political and economic events that shook society in the second half of the 20th century. Sunday 19 July at 10am At La Chap'L, Ville-Close TOMBOLA DRAW Tickets are on sale throughout the festival until the draw.
