An exhibition on the history of the Rosbras sailing school will be on display at the stunning Trémor Chapel, which is also well worth a visit for the occasion.
Around sixty period photographs (dating from 1962, when the school opened, to its closure on 25 March 1990) will be on display.
At the time, the sailing centre was a delight for recreational sailing enthusiasts who, coming from all over France and far beyond, enjoyed spending the summer months staying at the former Lothan school, situated a stone’s throw from Rosbras harbour. Putting this exhibition together required a great deal of work, with the collection of artefacts made possible thanks to the support and excellent work already carried out by members of the Rosbras Brigneau, Riec, Mémoire & Avenir association, as well as local councillors and municipal services.
The Chapel of Notre-Dame de Tremoor is situated on the banks of the Aven and the Anse de Trémor, in a remarkable wooded area (a listed site), facing the Château du Hénan.
This chapel is a place of worship for sailors. Until around 1950, a procession would set out from the village on the Day of Pardon at Pentecost to reach the chapel. The chapel houses two processional boats, which are votive offerings. It has a rectangular floor plan and a chancel that is narrower than the rest of the building. It also contains a number of ancient statues.
