Description

"A wind of freedom is blowing and taking with it the traditional codes of the fine arts! The 4 artists in the exhibition have in common this desire to be different, this little step to the side. Camille Amzallag (embroidery), Gérard Boivin (paintings), Justine Cotin (paintings) and Sandra Franrenet (collages), through an uninhibited artistic practice free of rules and canons, offer dreamlike worlds in which they invite us to follow them." Justine Cottin: Colour is my language, my way of interpreting the world. I firmly believe that it has an impact on our minds, that it can soothe, energise, awaken and make us dream. Through my work, I express the emotions that run through us, emotions that are often invisible but essential. Each canvas is an invitation to feel, to contemplate, to reconnect with our feelings. Camille Amzallag: Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Cergy-Pontoise, I teach visual arts in Dijon. I work in a variety of media: drawing, embroidery and photography. I generally use existing images, which I hijack to change their meaning. In my series of embroideries, I combine traditional works with words or other images that come from the past. words or other images that disrupt the codes of this imagery, often using humour. humour. You can see my work on instagram : @ninon_a_la_maison. Gérard Boivin: Self-taught, more of a jack-of-all-trades... After experimenting with graphics, I quickly returned to my first love, abstraction, creating hybrid forms - rhizome-like - that connect to each other, multiply and sometimes extend to infinity... in a random way. Grids then appear to structure the space, into which lines and more or less free forms are inserted: a playground based on repetition, rhythm and symmetry. Little by little, this is transformed into an exploration of an imaginary cartography... Except that it's not the words that I'm cutting out but the images that I'm cutting up to invent another reality. A journalist by profession, I've been escaping into collage for the last seven years. My work has evolved over time, leaving more room for ink and paint to create the backgrounds for my paintings.
