Description
In this musical breakfast, we'll be looking at the major figure of Thérèse Wartel (1814-1865), who has recently been rediscovered thanks to the work of Domitille Bès, pianist and doctoral student at the Sorbonne.
An accomplished piano virtuoso, Thérèse Wartel was acclaimed by her contemporaries and, above all, established herself as the leading exegete of Beethoven's works in France.
As a composer and music critic, she was at the centre of the artistic ferment of the Romantic era. Spotlight on this unjustly forgotten musician and her contemporaries!
Domitille Bès will be playing works by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Louise Farrenc, Fanny Mendelssohn, and of course Thérèse Wartel...
Breakfast included.
