Description
This concert takes us on a journey through both the eastern and western Mediterranean, from the northern shore to the southern shore, listening to the echoes of women’s voices long since lost. From these regions come purely poetic writings by women, without any original musical setting, as well as songs whose melodies have not survived into the 21st century.
To bring these words to life once more, Ingrid Blasco has composed music arranged by the Trobairitz ensemble, thus blending ancient literature with modernity. The purely instrumental pieces are adaptations of a folk repertoire from the same regions. The poems are sung by the mezzo-soprano Alice Khayati, accompanied on the hurdy-gurdy (Ingrid Blasco), the viola da gamba (Nathalie Le Gaouyat) and percussion (Mathias Mantello). We are delighted to play our part in highlighting the genius of all these women, most of whom have remained anonymous. Their words remain remarkably relevant and fresh today.
