Lifting the ban shellfish harvesting

Before going fishing on foot, it’s important to find out about the regulations in force. Certain areas may be banned or restricted by municipal or prefectoral decrees. These measures are designed to protect public health, wildlife and the environment.

This information is available on Pêche à pied Responsable and at the entrances to Kerleven beach in La Forêt-Fouesnant.

Kerleven beach foot fishing not recommended all year round

TheAgence Régionale de Santé (ARS) is advising the public not to go fishing on foot at Kerleven beach. This recommendation follows health checks which revealed levels of contamination in the water and sediments that could present a risk to human health.

As a precautionary measure, people are advised not to collect or consume shellfish or other shellfish products from this area. The ARS reminds people of the importance of complying with these recommendations in order to prevent any health risk.

For more information and to find out which beaches are authorised for shellfish fishing, visit the Pêche à pied responsable website and look out for the information boards at the entrances to Kerleven beach and at the town hall.
