Become a lifeguard with SDIS29

A useful, formative and rewarding commitment

Do you love the sea and human contact, and would you like to get involved in the safety of others? Joining the Service Départemental d’Incendie et de Secours du Finistère (SDIS 29) as a seasonal rescue swimmer is a rewarding human experience and a unique opportunity to help protect bathers while developing sought-after skills. As a SDIS lifeguard swimmer, you will be trained in water rescue, first aid and risk prevention to provide a professional and reassuring lifeguard service on the beaches of Finistère during the summer season.

Every summer, several lifeguard posts are entrusted to lifeguards hired by SDIS 29. These missions give you the chance to gain valuable experience, work as part of a team with volunteer fire-fighters and play an active role in the safety of coastal users.

Kerleven beach in La Forêt-Fouesnant

Kerleven beach in La Forêt-Fouesnant is one of the beautiful beaches patrolled every summer, and a perfect example of the impact of the commitment of the SDIS 29 lifeguards. This beach of fine sand, ideal for swimming and water sports, welcomes many holidaymakers during the summer season. In July and August, a first-aid post is set up there, equipped to receive the public and professionals, and the swimming area is supervised by SDIS 29 lifeguards every day from 1.30pm to 7.30pm. Thanks to this presence, swimming is safer and families can enjoy this emblematic part of the Finistère coastline in complete peace of mind.
