The Musée de la Conserverie is both a museum of society and a collector of memories, dedicated to the history of female workers as well as to that of the great families who owned the canneries in southern Brittany. It sees itself as a potential agitator of identities, while aiming to preserve this heritage, which was listed as a Historic Monument in 2016.
The Musée de la Conserverie is the last witness to an extraordinary Breton story: the adventure of canned fish! This industry was born in the 19th century and is still very much alive in the Pays Bigouden. This place will tell you all about this industrial and human epic, to the rhythm of the arrival of the fish and the ringing of the factory bell! This new cultural facility in the Pays Bigouden is one of only three of its kind in Europe.
