The heart of the village
The La Forêt cove is a fine example of the area’s rich heritage. Walkers can take the two-kilometre loop via the GR 34 to admire the flora and fauna specific to this tidal inlet.
Remarkable buildings line the shores, including the 18th-century Mesmeur manor house, the 18th-century Peniti chapel and the 16th-centurychurch of Notre Dame Izel Vor and its calvary. The stone houses adorned with blue and pink hydrangeas and the old riggings make the old port a pretty Breton cliché.
Port-la-Forêt – La Forêt-Fouesnant’s marina – is also a feast for the eyes, with the tinkling of ropes on the masts of its many boats as background music.
From the small speedboats used by yachtsmen to the fishing boats used by fishermen, not forgetting the huge racing yachts used by famous skippers, you won’t know where to turn!
