Description
The singer-songwriter Walid Ben Selim was born in Casablanca (Morocco), in the old medina. In 2014, he founded the collective N3rdistan, which blends rap, rock, trip-hop and poetry. Walid Ben Selim had already been deeply passionate about poetry; and he has continued to dedicate his artistic journey to it ever since.
With “Here and Now” (released in 2024), Walid Ben Selim acts as a voice for the greatest names in Sufi poetry (Ibn Arabi, Ibn Fared, Kabi…). Through this mythical, mystical and millennia-old Orient, he seeks to capture the primal vibration in an epic and meditative flow. Accompanied by a classical harpist, Marie-Marguerite Cano, he creates a space of musical spirituality, a form of dialogue between the spoken Arabic language and the inaccessible, symbolic language of the harp.
A poetic realm imbued with love and joy.
