Description
Tranx Collective | directed by: Charlotte Deniel | text by: Anouk Werro
Known for her curvaceous ‘Nanas’, her larger-than-life sculptures and her transgressive art, the artist Niki de Saint Phalle was dynamic and multifaceted. She was both a beacon of joy and a fighter against depression and violence.
Structured like a mosaic, this production brings together fragments of Niki de Saint Phalle’s life from different periods, as well as other women’s stories. Whilst it may at first appear to be a biopic, the production leans towards the realm of the fairy tale, towards a world populated by creatures and dreams. The narrative is playful, erotic and joyful.
Like Niki de Saint Phalle, the Collectif Tranx chooses poetry, dreams and humour as weapons to combat the stifling naturalism of life.
