Description
Théâtre de la Manufacture – CDN Nancy Lorraine | Julia Vidit | Pierre Corneille
Following *Le Cid*, Corneille wrote an autobiographical comedy: *Le Menteur* (1644). It centres on Dorante, a young man who invents a life for himself to find his place in a world where appearances are everything. This baroque comedy, peppered with lies and misunderstandings, is an ode to the imagination and inventiveness.
When Alexandrian verse meets fluorescent trainers… This adaptation brings Corneille into dialogue with our own era. Whilst the set and costumes are modern, the themes – lies, relationships between men and women, and parent-child relationships – are truly timeless…
