Ballets Jazz Montréal | Alexandra Damiani, Executive and Artistic Director | Jo Strømgren
Two performances: Friday 2 and Saturday 3 April at 8.30 pm
When life is in turmoil, the roaring beauty of movement remains.
Ballets Jazz Montréal is a contemporary dance company founded in 1972. Bringing together a troupe of dancers from around the world, it regularly collaborates with renowned choreographers to explore new ways of dancing and expressing emotions.
The company returns to Fouesnant (its last visit was in 2014) with a work by a master of contrasts: the Norwegian choreographer Jo Strømgren. In this epic piece, thirteen performers navigate the shadows of the end of life to celebrate the encounters that shape us. On stage, under the gaze of a ghost, a community forms, unravels and comes together again. The movements are suspended memories, fragments of life. The gestures speak of love, friendship and loss. The celebration embraces melancholy; nostalgia flirts with the urgency to live; farewells resound with a sense of renewal.
