EMBROIDERY COURSES
The Festival des Brodeuses puts embroidery back at its heart, with a course run by passionate embroiderers.
From Wednesday 8 to Friday 10, experienced embroiderers Nadine Chaminand and Hélène Cario will be dispensing advice and secrets at the Patronage laïque, a stone's throw from the Théâtre de Verdure and the quayside.
Nadine Chaminand will be supervising the thread embroidery course (neudé and Bigouden embroidery), which will take place over the 3 days.
On the programme: creation of a 20 x 20 motif on a 50 x 50 linen canvas, using chain stitch, festoon stitch, neudé, passé plat, darning, boulogne stitch and mourning stitch with silk and pearl cotton threads.
Hélène Cario will be in charge of the three-day beading course.
Christine Hotte will be looking after day students, who will be working on smaller designs and learning fewer stitches.
New for 2026: a one-day course on the basics of Bigouden picot and bracelet design, run by Laure Armani-Gueguen and Jacqueline Rolland-Le Corre.
On the programme: creating a 35cm x 35cm design on a 50cm x 50cm linen canvas, tracing the design, beading in front stitch (1, 2 and 3 beads), continuous stitch, sowing, flat stitch, beaded stem stitch (or rat tail), tube stitching, river sequins, with beads, sequins and smooth and curly cannetille on linen.
Whether you're a Sunday embroiderer, a keen amateur or just live with a needle in your hand, come and work on these legendary techniques!
For everyone's comfort, the number of places is limited to 12 per technique, with the exception of beading for the day, where a maximum of 10 people will be accepted.
PRACTICE

- From 9.30am to 12pm and from 1pm to 4.30pm;

- 70/day, €190 for 3 days.
The price includes materials (threads, fabrics and needles), but please bring embroidery scissors, pencils, a notebook for taking notes, sewing pins and, depending on your habits, a lamp, magnifying glass, thimble and possibly a cushion.
