Dive into the world of furniture and create a unique coffee table.
Create a piece of furniture that is as robust as it is elegant, inspired by Japanese techniques.
With Élodie at your side, solid wood becomes a veritable playground. Olive ash, Japanese saws, mortises and wooden keys... Discover precision work, where every gesture counts and every piece fits together by hand.
Course of the workshop
- Preparing the tops: select your planks of wood, and mark your marks according to the dimensions of the Japanese coffee table you want to make.
- Machining the mortises and keys: work each piece with a saw and router to create the notches and wooden cleats that will allow glue-free assembly.
- Interlocking assembly: test and adjust your structure using the key locking systems, until you get a perfect fit.
- Finishing and sanding: sand the surfaces, round off the edges with a router, then apply a soft finish to reveal the wood grain.
- Final assembly and dismantling: fully assemble your table, and dismantle it once to fully understand the mechanism.
At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with your superb Japanese-inspired table, ready to take pride of place in your home!
