By Jacques Maigret, fisheries biologist and honorary curator of scientific heritage at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle.
Born in response to successive sardine crises, lobster fishing - first green, then pink - took Breton sailors all the way to the shores of West Africa. Initiated in the early 20th century, this human and maritime adventure provided a living for over 1,000 families in Douarnenez and Camaret in the 1950s. But the intensification of harvesting and unfavourable fishing agreements gradually marked the end of this emblematic activity. Today, we invite you to delve into the fascinating history of one of Brittany's great fisheries, a blend of collective memory and maritime heritage.

Bookings required via the Musée de la Pêche online ticketing service.
