When he was little, Camille used to hear his older brother Matthieu practising his scales on the cello, and it seemed very strange to him, like a ritual… Over time, each forged his own relationship with music – one through song, the other through jazz and world music. And then, a path emerged for them to explore together.
With “Al Alba”, they build bridges between their respective worlds to bring a new territory to life. They invite you on an intense musical journey, spanning East and West, classical music and improvisation, intimacy and power. At times, one hears Eastern, jazz or blues influences, but also a lyrical world carried by Matthieu’s virtuoso bowing and Camille’s hypnotic voice. Thanks to the sampler, the cello multiplies itself, creating rich and colourful soundscapes.
Camille and Matthieu Saglio’s repertoire is as unclassifiable as it is magnetic, sweeping the audience along on an inner and spiritual journey. A moment suspended in time.
