Description
Amir Sabra and Ata Khatab | laGeste - Stereo48
“Badke (remix)” is a reimagining of the show “Badke”, performed by ten Palestinian dancers around the world between 2013 and 2016 and co-created by two choreographers and a dramaturg from the Belgian company Les Ballets C de la B. This new version is in the hands of Palestinian choreographers: Amir Sabra and Ata Khatab.
The dabké, a traditional dance performed at weddings, lies at the heart of the show. The dancers present a contemporary version informed by their practice of contemporary dance, hip-hop, capoeira and circus arts.
The performance expresses a zest for life without obscuring the oppression suffered by Palestinian bodies. Rewritten in 2025, the piece was created against a backdrop of war and crisis. Dance becomes a form of resistance. This explosion of joy reflects a need for vitality and connection. The ten Palestinian dancers in *Badke(remix)* proudly affirm their culture and their presence in the world.
