The Vendée Globe is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular and demanding races in the world. This solo round-the-world race, without stopovers or assistance, attracts every year renowned sailors ready to challenge the oceans on high-tech monohulls. It represents the spirit of adventure, resilience and passion that binds man (and of course woman!) to the sea.
A unique adventure
The Vendée Globe is distinguished by its human dimension. Indeed, each participant must sail alone, in total autonomy, and face bad weather, giant waves, risks of collision and lack of sleep, all while managing the technical aspects of their boat. A real mental and physical challenge, where resistance to adversity is as important as mastering navigation technologies.
La Forêt-Fouesnant and the Vendée Globe
Although the Vendée Globe starts from Les Sables d'Olonne, La Forêt-Fouesnant, with its port Port-La-Forêt, echoes this adventure. The Breton village, renowned for its offshore racing training center, contributes greatly to the fame of this legendary race. Indeed, many skippers who take part in the race follow the training of the Finistère Offshore Racing.

The Vendée Globe 2024 is once again shaping up to be an unmissable event for sailing enthusiasts, the curious and families. La Forêt-Fouesnant, with its maritime atmosphere and love for the sea, invites you to experience this event as close as possible to the action. You will be able to discover the backstage of the race, follow the performances of the skippers and enjoy the many events related to sailing and the ocean.
The ANPLF association offers meetings at its premises in Port-La-Forêt to monitor the progress of skippers around the world:
- Friday 17 a.m. to 30 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 15:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m.
