How did I quit Zionism?
It all starts with one question: you know Israel, tell me, how bad is it over there? To answer that question, I propose to untangle the skein over a cup of mint tea and tell you about the visible and hidden sides of the story, big and small, that led us to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: two peoples (?) coveting the same territory on which they live.
And since we are talking about history(ies), how do we, as a species of fabulist, construct them? In the service of what? For whose benefit?
Aren't Jews and Palestinians both victims of seven centuries of discrimination in Europe, giving rise to a cynical, greedy oppressor that still fuels the North-South conflict today, an oppressor hidden behind three words: Colonialism, Nationalism and Capitalism?
This gesticulated lecture, this show, blends geopolitics, history and autobiography to help us understand this world of storytelling and propaganda. It's also the story of a child who wonders, a teenager who searches for himself and an adult who remembers and brings the ghosts of the past back to life with truculence.It's the story of colonial contempt. It is the story of the roots of anti-Semitism, the story of the European elite of the Zionist project in its struggle for civilisation against the Eastern communities.It is the story ... of the stories that are told to each other, that are told to us, those sometimes mixed with emotions but also those written by and for the benefit of the victor, stories that must be taken apart to understand what is at stake and to laugh at them under a shower of Jewish jokes. Finally, it is a story full of hope, the story of tomorrow, this blank page that remains to be written with new values and new heroes.
